Villa Erba

Villa Erba is one of the largest historic wedding venues on Lake Como, set directly on the waterfront in Cernobbio. Built in the late nineteenth century for the Erba family, the villa later became closely associated with Italian film director Luchino Visconti, who spent many summers here. Today the estate combines the historic villa, a century-old lakefront park, terraces, a private dock and a modern event complex, giving couples considerably more flexibility than many smaller Lake Como wedding venues. For weddings, the historic ground floor includes the entrance hall and five connected rooms and can accommodate up to 450 seated guests. The ballroom can host up to 500 people for dancing, while smaller rooms allow for more intimate dinner layouts. Outdoor celebrations can extend onto the terraces and into the park overlooking Lake Como, while the historic interiors provide a substantial indoor option in case of poor weather. Guests can also arrive by boat using Villa Erba’s private dock. Villa Erba does not offer guest accommodation on site: the former bedrooms on the upper floor are now used as meeting and executive rooms, so wedding guests normally stay in Cernobbio or nearby Como. Wedding venue hire is quoted individually. Publicly available pricing information and current 2026 venue guides place the approximate rental cost at around €20,000–€25,000+ plus VAT, depending on the spaces used, guest count and event schedule; the venue itself does not currently publish a fixed wedding tariff online. The scale of the estate makes Villa Erba particularly suitable for large destination weddings, substantial floral and lighting productions and celebrations where the ceremony, dinner and party need to remain within one lakefront property.
